You will confidently introduce agile ways of working in organizations of all sizes and significantly support change. You will learn to lead teams of Agile Coaches and ScrumMasters and to work goal-oriented with top management.

Agile Coach powered by bg is a 4-6 months part-time course that you complete with certification. In 3 modules you will learn to independently plan, coordinate and accompany agile transformations.

Agile Coach Acadamy education program at A1 Telekom Austria

Christina Aigner, HR Specialist for Learning and Talent Acquisition at A1, explains in this short video how the Agile Coach Acadamy education program was set up at A1 Telekom Austria, Austria’s leading communications provider. The complete interview is available here.

Starting Point Is Your Own Attitude

During this course, you will work intensively on your understanding of leadership and learn to take on leadership with all its consequences. Your colleagues in the course will be your mirror and your mentors in the mutual case consultation – they will show you where your points for personal development lie.

Target Audience

  • Experienced ScumMasters, Agility Masters, product owners, team leaders, systematic coaches who are tasked with planning and coordinating agile transitions in their organizations or work in transition teams.
  • Agile coaches that assist managers in adopting agile methods in organizations.
  • Team leaders und department leaders that want to lead their teams in a more agile manner and/or want to launch agile projects.

What can you expect?

Practical work, self-reflection and theory. You will get a long reading and video list on topics that we will discuss intensively in the big round.

What do you get?

We show you the essence of our work, explain coaching from our perspective, let you share real experiences and support you in your own challenges. In addition, we provide you with the theoretical tools so that you can appear confident to your superiors and show you how to make a team successful.

We’ll show you our success stories, talk about what really happens on a day-to-day basis with customers, and let you in on what has made borisgloger successful.

Requirements

You have several months of experience in leading agile teams. Ideally, you have worked as a ScrumMaster or in a comparable role (e.g. Agile Team Facilitator) and gained experience with multiple teams. Intensive preparation is required for each module – the necessary content and materials will be provided.

Feedback from previous participants:

Very high level: We are trainers ourselves with years of experience - but you have set the bar extremely high, respect.

Extra praise for the hybrid model: It worked great, I wouldn't have thought!

How you as a trainer team interacted and acted - great! Great range of topics and content, very professional!

Training Content & Dates

To get everyone on the same page, we first need to talk about the theoretical foundations of Scrum and other agile frameworks. We explain the responsibilities and how you as a coach can help to live these responsibilities. In this context, we also show you the essential techniques of visualization that make borisgloger consultants sought-after facilitators. However: Some of the theory on agile frameworks is 40 years old. At borisgloger, we have not only helped shape many practices of agile frameworks – we are also constantly updating these practices based on current experiences and scientific findings. More recent influences are, for example, the principle of voluntary action and Open Space Agility. Therefore, on the introduction day, under the motto “Agile Essentials”, we dedicate ourselves to the similarities and differences of Scrum, Kanban and Design Thinking, among others. The Agile Coach often works as ScrumMaster with the agile team (also Scrum team), although this is not the actual task. This module is about,
  • how the Agile Coach works with a team to make it successful.
  • how the Agile Coach can work effectively with the ScrumMaster or Agile Master – i.e.: coaching the coach
  • how a high-performance team is created and the impetus needed to foster these teams in an organization
  • how a transformation team can lead an Agile transformation and the role of the Agile coach
  • what is behind change management in an agile context
  • how a facilitation toolbox can help to design a participative change (The Circle Way, Appreciative Inquiry, World Café, RTSC)
The core question is: What is your role as a coach? How do you bring yourself into the organization? Which tasks do you really have as an Agile Coach and which tasks are attributed to you by the organization? We cannot eliminate this role conflict, but we can show you how to deal with it.

Agile Organizational Models When the team works in a self-organized way and the practices are learned, the focus moves to the design of the organization. We will explain various organizational models, highlight the differences, and use case studies to explore how companies apply these models:
  • Spotify model
  • Agile scaling frameworks
  • Holacracy & Sociocracy
  • Portfolio Management
  • Objectives and Key Results (OKR)
  • Maturity Models
Fundamentals of Systemic Thinking We believe an organization is a system of communication. Which implications does this have for working with organizations and management? The Purpose of Management in an Agile Organization Management has a significant influence on the communications in an organization. So what tasks does management have in order to lead these communications purposefully and successfully, and how can the Agile Coach work on this? In any case, there is a need for new management concepts for this. The goal: Participants gain a comprehensive insight into various organizational and scaling models and learn what principles lie behind these models and how they are established in their companies. In parallel, we work on the leadership model of the future and what this means for their own role.

The Agile Coach must be a role model himself. Therefore, this module is about your impact: How do you communicate and how do you behave? Among other things, the following communication models and theories are covered:
  • Reflection and self-management
  • Moderation options in conflict
  • Solution-oriented systemic approaches
  • Leading by invitation
The Goal: We pick up elements from the first two modules, deepen them and show you precisely how you can develop yourself and your team. “Self-leadership” is the key here in leading others. As Agile Coaches ourselves, we know how often we encounter resistance and conflicts. We show you a constructive way to deal with them, coaching methods and ways to resolve them.
