Wafaa Yalcin

Program Manager Scrum4Schools Germany

With Scrum4Schools, Wafaa Yalcin wants to bring a form of learning into schools that puts frontal teaching and grades into the shadows. After 13 years in the pharmaceutical industry, she found a crucial personal reason for leaving the comfort zone of a secure job and a familiar industry to pursue a new vocation: “My children’s time at school showed me that teachers can’t get close to their students, and school administrators can’t get close to their teachers. Old structures keep them from responding appropriately to new challenges and focusing purely on the common goal: providing a quality education for all children.”

Wafaa brings the toolbox of agile teaching to classrooms (agile learning) and also supports schools and other educational institutions that want to collaborate more effectively and in a more agile way internally (new collaboration models). Wafaa’s vision is to use Scrum4Schools to give children and young people tools they can use throughout their lives to organize and develop themselves independently. At the same time, she encourages teachers to explore new ways of imparting knowledge and to rediscover their profession with the help of agile didactics.
